Rock and roll music was invented in 1955 by a a black man who was playing black music, Charles Edward Anderson “Chuck” Berry ,a great guitarist, performer and songwriter , born in St. Louis on October 18, 1926 .

His songs had teenagers as a target and spoke about taboo subjects such as adolescent love, generation gap in pieces like School Day , Sweet Little Sixteen Little Queenie , Around and Around .Three of his masterpieces : Johnny B. Goode, Maybellene ,Rock&Roll Music were included in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame .
Later on, Berry’s music was the inspiration for the Beatles and the Rolling Stones groups .

Rock and roll was an overnight succes and soon and the music industry began to promot white rock and roll singers such as Elvis Presley , Buddy Holly , Duan Eddy ,Everly Brothers .
