Louis Armstrong was born on 4 august 1900 into a very poor family in New Orleans , Louisiana,being the grandson of slaves , and died on 6 July 1971 in New York,of a heart attack after playing a show at the Waldorf Astoria’s Empire Room.

He was known as one of the most famous jazz musicians of the 20th century, receiving Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1972 , by the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

The single “Mack and Knife ” recorded in 1955 by Columbia was inducted in 1997 in “Grammy Hall of fame “.
